Our Mission

To promote sports tourism and positive economic development statewide through a variety of actions, programs and efforts to attract and encourage the hosting of sporting events in Indiana.

history

Team Indiana is a collaboration of sports tourism representatives across the state. The group first started in 2008 as a non-profit organization, and founding members included Columbus Area Visitors Center, Hamilton County Sports Authority, and South Shore Sports Promotions, with administrative support from Indiana Sports Corp. Today, the team is comprised of more than 20 Indiana destinations, as well as industry partners and sports event owners.

In 2020, Indiana Sports Corp assumed leadership of the organization. This resulted in the formation of Team Indiana which will have representation on a new standing committee of the Indiana Sports Corp Board of Directors. With Team Indiana under Indiana Sports Corp’s leadership, the organization will continue its strategic focus to make the state a premier sports event destination for local, national, and international rights holders.

What we do

• Provide professional development and educational opportunities

• Activate at industry tradeshows

• Collect and disseminate best practices and news within the sports tourism industry

• Calculate the economic impact of sporting events using the Sports Economic Impact Calculator developed specifically for our members

• Offer collaborative participation in national publications

• Promote member news and events using social media, the Team Indiana website, and newsletters

• Administer the Team Indiana Grant Program

 Leadership

Team Indiana is one of 8 standing committees for the Indiana Sports Corp Board of Directors. The Team Indiana committee members are selected by their peers to represent the team and serve in an advisory capacity to the Director of Statewide Initiatives and Events. Team Indiana member, William Knox serves on the Indiana Sports Corp Board of Directors as the chairman of the Team Indiana Committee.

Rachel Frank is the Manager of Statewide Initiatives and External Affairs. In this role Rachel is responsible for the coordination and execution of meetings and networking events, development and implementation of marketing plans, management of the grant program, and communication with Team Indiana members and stakeholders. She serves as the staff liaison to the Team Indiana Committee and Grant Committee.
